Johor Branch received a visit from Human Resouces Ministry (Industrial Relation Dept) officer named En.Abdul Kadir bin Muhamad - Assistant Director of IR Dept, Johor on 2 November 2009 at 10.00 a.m.
Group HR Dept supported Johor Branch personnel during this visit, which was to ensure our Company complies with all requirements articulated in the IR Act in terms of administering a good and cordial employer-employee relationship and to study if there is a current need for workers union establishment at the moment in Johor branch.
Group HR/Admin Dept responded that there is no such requirement for workers union at the moment, as all employment related issues are currently solved amicably via good and cordial discussion between the workers and the Management. Below are the current practices highlighted to Mr. Kadir on methods of addressing and solving employment related issues practiced by Johor Branch:
1. Daily Tool Box Meeting; which also caters matters raised concerning workers employment, benefit and other HR related issues.
2. Complaint/Suggestion Form ; which is currently placed at the notice board to allow any employee to write in their grievance to the Management
3. Close relationship with unofficial employee representative (local and foreigners); to ensure any employment related grievances are heard and solved immediately, due to language barrier and work nature.
4. Acting as a caring employer; by subsiding accommodation, PPE, transportation and other HR related expenses, which most of other companies will charge back to their employee’s salary.
As the result of our explanation, Mr. Kadir was very happy with our commitment in terms of IR management at Johor Branch and even invited us to have closer relationship with them for any IR related support in near future.
Group HR/Admin Dept also requested Mr. Kadir to include Johor Branch Management employees for any future training conducted by the HR Ministry concerning IR matters, an idea which was very much welcomed by him.
Group HR/Admin Dept hereby wishes to thank Johor Branch for the support rendered during the visit.
