TOWARDS ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION

Today, it is becoming more important to show that companies or organizations are aware about their environment impact of their activities conducted, and having a system that will benefit not only the environment but will also able to reduce costs and enhance the efficiency of the companies or organizations. Some of the benefits of having on Environmental Management System (EMS) and showing conformance to the ISO 14001 standard are:

·   Advantage when tendering for business

·         Compliance to the Environment Regulations

·     Management of environment impacts and risks

·         Cost saving by recycling, reusing and reducing consumption

·       Demonstrates the commitment to improve the environment

·         Publicize the company as a responsible and future focused organization

·         Increase the employees engagement that they are employed in a environmental   friendly organization.

One of the objectives of Leopad Group SHE Department for the year 2013 is to educate and prepare the branches at Kulim, Lumut, Klang Valley, Gebeng, Labuan, Pasir Gudang (Nomad Engineering) and Paka (Profitrise) to go for the ISO 14001 certification in the year 2014. Melaka branch, which has been already certified in the year 2008, will be the role model and bench mark for these other branches. Plans and programme are already in place for this purpose, with awareness trainings planned internally and implementation trainings to be conducted by external trainers.

ISO 14001 is compatible with the other management standards that we have achieved, such as OHSAS 18001, MS 1722 and ISO 9001. So, let us go for it and show that environmental management in also an important part of our corporate culture.
